Is Klook Legit? My Honest Review

What is Klook? Is it Legit or a Scam?

If you’ve spent any time reading my blog, you’ve probably seen me mention Klook more than once.

That’s because it’s one of the travel apps I genuinely use a lot.

As someone who’s traveled to more than 60 countries on a pretty modest budget, I’m always looking for ways to stretch my money a little further.

Over the years, Klook has saved me hundreds of dollars on attraction tickets, transportation, airport transfers, and tours that would have cost much more if I’d booked them elsewhere.

So, is Klook legit? Is it safe to use? And is it actually cheaper than booking directly?

In this updated Klook review, I’ll share how the platform works, what you can book, what I like about it, the downsides you should know about, and a few tips that have helped me save money while traveling.

For the record, this isn’t a sponsored post.

It does contain affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you make a purchase through them, at no extra cost to you. This helps support this blog and allows me to continue creating free travel guides and tips.

As always, I only recommend products and services that I’ve personally used or genuinely believe are worth recommending.

What is Klook?

Founded in Hong Kong in 2014, Klook is a travel booking platform that lets you book just about everything you might need for a trip.

You can reserve attraction tickets, guided tours, airport transfers, train passes, ferries, eSIMs, car rentals, airport lounges, restaurant deals, and more, all in one place.

It partners directly with attractions and local operators around the world, making it easy to compare options, read verified reviews, and book online before or during your trip.

If you’re wondering what the name means, it’s derived from the phrase “keep looking”, reflecting the team’s goal of helping travelers discover new places and experiences while searching for the best travel deals.

What can you book on Klook?

Klook started out by offering tours and attraction tickets, but these days it’s much more than that.

Depending on where you’re traveling, you can use it to book almost every part of your trip, including:

  • Attraction tickets
  • Guided tours and day trips
  • Airport transfers
  • Train, bus, and ferry tickets
  • Car, scooter, and motorcycle rentals
  • Hotels and stays
  • Restaurant reservations and dining deals
  • Spa and wellness experiences
  • eSIMs, SIM cards, and portable WiFi

One thing I appreciate is that it doesn’t just list the typical tourist attractions.

Sure, you can book a skip-the-line ticket to the Eiffel Tower or a Japan Rail Pass, but it’s also a great place to find unusual experiences you might never have thought to search for yourself.

So, instead of booking yet another city tour, you might come across a ghost tour inside Adelaide Gaol, a ninja training workshop in Osaka, or a mud-bath treatment in Vietnam.

Klook activities and services

Here are some of the experiences I’ve personally booked through Klook:

Mud Bath at Thap Ba
The Gravityz Penang
Making lanterns in Hoi An
  • Dinner in the sky, Kuala Lumpur
Dinner in the Sky KL reclining seat
Cycling in Amsterdam

Madame Tussauds Bangkok

What I like about Klook

I don’t believe there’s one perfect travel app that does everything. Depending on the destination, I often use several different platforms to compare prices and options.

However, Klook is one I end up using quite often, especially for attraction tickets, transportation, and unique local experiences. Here’s why.

It often saves me money

This is the biggest reason. I’ve booked everything from attraction tickets to airport transfers through Klook, and many of them were noticeably cheaper than buying directly.

The savings might only be a few dollars each time, but after dozens of trips, they really add up.

That said, I still compare prices before booking. Klook frequently has the best deal, but not always.

It only takes a minute to check the attraction’s official website, and sometimes you’ll find similar prices or extra perks.

The reviews are genuinely useful

Every activity includes reviews from travelers who have actually booked it, often with plenty of photos.

I always read through them before making a decision because they usually answer the questions I didn’t even know I had.

Booking is quick and convenient

Most activities offer instant confirmation, so your voucher appears in the app within minutes.

I’ve even booked tickets while standing outside an attraction if I see that the online price is cheaper than at the counter. A few taps later, I had my QR code ready to go.

Everything is in one place

Instead of juggling separate websites for train tickets, airport transfers, attraction passes, and tours, I can organize most of my itinerary in one app. It makes planning a trip much less chaotic.

You can earn rewards

Klook also has a rewards program that lets you earn credits on eligible bookings and even when you leave reviews, which can then be applied toward future purchases.

The amount varies depending on the booking and current promotions, but it’s always a nice little bonus, especially if you use the platform regularly.

You can refer friends and earn travel credits

If you enjoy using Klook, you can also invite your friends to join through your personal referral link or code. When they sign up and complete their first eligible booking, both of you may receive travel credits or other rewards.

Sign up using my referral code FFKSC to get discounts on your first booking (T&Cs apply).

Is Klook legit?

If you’ve never used Klook before, it’s perfectly normal to be a little skeptical. After all, booking tours and attraction tickets through a third-party platform can feel risky, especially when the prices are lower than booking directly.

Personally, I’ve been using Klook for years in multiple countries, and I’ve had positive experiences every time.

If you’re still unsure, don’t just take my word for it. Klook has become one of the largest travel experience booking platforms in Asia and is used by millions of travelers worldwide.

There are also plenty of independent reviews online from other travel bloggers and publications like Forbes and CNBC if you’d like to do a bit more research before deciding.

As for me? I’ve just booked a fast boat from Bali to Nusa Penida on Klook, and it ended with views like this:

Nusa Penida Broken Beach
Wish you were here!

Secure payments

From my experience, I’ve never had any issues booking through Klook.

Payments are processed through secure payment systems, and you can choose from several payment methods, including major credit and debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and various local payment options, depending on your country or region.

Cancellation policies

Another thing I appreciate is that Klook clearly states the cancellation policy for each activity before you book.

Some experiences offer free cancellation up to a certain date, while others are partially refundable or non-refundable. Since policies vary between operators, it’s always worth checking the details before you pay.

If you do run into any issues, Klook provides customer support through its app and website.

However, all of my bookings have gone smoothly so far, so I’ve never personally had to contact them. Because of that, I can’t comment on how responsive or effective their customer service is.

Klook cancellation policy
The cancellation policy is clearly stated on each activity booking page.

Everything sounds good so far…

BUT! (Yes, there’s always a but).

Do keep in mind that Klook is a booking platform, not a tour operator. It doesn’t run the tours or attractions itself.

Instead, it connects travelers with local companies, much like Booking.com connects you with hotels rather than operating the hotels themselves.

So, the quality of your experience ultimately depends on the individual operator.

Before booking, I always spend a few minutes reading recent reviews and looking through travelers’ photos. It’s a simple habit that has helped me avoid disappointing experiences and choose better tours over the years.

How to use Klook

You can book through Klook on either your desktop or the mobile app (available for both Android and iOS).

Personally, I recommend downloading the app, as it occasionally offers app-exclusive promotions and makes it much easier to access your booking vouchers while you’re traveling.

Using Klook is pretty straightforward.

Simply browse experiences by destination, search for a specific attraction or activity, or explore different categories. You’ll need to create a free account before you can make a booking.

When viewing an activity, keep an eye out for the “Instant Confirmation” lightning bolt next to the price.

This means your booking voucher will usually be issued within minutes after payment, allowing you to book even while you’re standing outside an attraction.

I’ve done this several times, either to skip long ticket lines or to get better deals, and it’s incredibly convenient.

Once your booking is confirmed, you can find all your reservations under the Bookings tab. Simply tap View Voucher to access your QR code or e-ticket, which you’ll present at the attraction or to the tour operator.

Since most experiences now accept mobile vouchers, there’s usually no need to print anything.

And that’s it! It’s that simple. You can then start earning credits through your completed activities, reviews, and referrals.

Final thoughts

I’ve been using Klook for years, and it’s become one of the first places I check whenever I’m planning a trip.

It’s helped me discover experiences I probably wouldn’t have found otherwise, and I’ve often been able to book them for less than the regular ticket price.

That being said, I don’t book everything through Klook. I always compare prices with the attraction’s official website and take a few minutes to read recent reviews before making a reservation.

Since Klook is a booking platform that works with third-party operators, doing a little research can go a long way.

he way you’ve highlighted the convenience, variety, and cost-saving potential of using Klook is particularly convincing. As someone who loves exploring new destinations, your article has convinced me that Klook is a valuable tool to have in my travel planning toolkit. Thank you for shedding light on this platform and sharing your expertise with fellow travelers!

  25. Carnita Hendricks

While Klook is very easy to use they have extremely disappointing/disgusting customer care and will waste your time and your money!

Beware! Our experience with Klook’s airport transfer service at Narita Airport was nothing short of disgusting. We booked our transfer while in transit in Dubai, specifically requesting a 6 PM pickup time and even providing our flight number for added clarity. However, upon arrival, we faced a frustrating situation that ultimately left us without transportation and out of pocket.

After clearing customs and collecting our luggage, 4 sets of eyes searched for our driver, who was nowhere to be found. After frantic searching and inquiries at the information desk, my husband finally located the driver, who turned out to be unprofessional, rude, and unhelpful. He demanded additional payment, claiming he had waited for 100 minutes, despite our voucher stating the driver would wait for one hour and 40 minutes.

When we refused to pay extra, the driver abandoned us, leaving us stranded with our children and luggage.

To make matters worse, Klook’s customer service has been ABYSMAL. They dragged their feet in addressing our concerns (not getting back to us within the 2 days as promised), made us provide photographic evidence (which they totally disregarded), spent hours going back and forth on chat and refused to get a manager to call us, failed to provide a refund and ultimately refused to take responsibility for their flawed system, which completely disregarded our requested pickup time (inputting the flight number overrides the clients requested pickup time and communicates to their operator to pitch up at the time the flight lands- so stupid!).

Klook admitted to poor communication with their operator but still denied us our hard-earned money back. Save yourself the headache and avoid Klook’s unreliable and unprofessional service!

I also used the Klook platform to book Shinkansen (bullet train) tickets and while one pays more for reserved seating it does not allow one to choose seats so we had 4 tickets in 4 separate rows with my young kids sitting on their own. I waited over an hour to get through to their customer support chat and they could do absolutely nothing to help!

2 out of 2 failed Klook bookings. Deleting the platform and will NEVER USE IT AGAIN!

    1. I’m really sorry to hear you went through that — that sounds incredibly stressful, especially after a long flight and with kids in tow. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience so other travelers can learn from it too.

For anyone reading this and considering Klook airport transfers or Klook Japan train tickets, I always recommend double-checking the pickup instructions, the waiting-time policy, and the operator details on the voucher. So far, all of my trips booked through Klook have been smooth, but different local operators can vary a lot, so it’s always good to confirm the pickup time directly with the driver or provider as soon as you get the booking.

I hope Klook eventually resolves this for you. Customer service can make or break a travel experience, and feedback like yours is important for holding these platforms accountable so travelers know what to expect when booking. Thanks again for sharing your perspective. It helps keep the conversation honest for anyone researching Klook before their trip.
