Initially hesitant to enter the Masjid 99 Kubah (99-Dome Mosque) in Makassar since I wasn’t properly dressed for it, but the warmth and hospitality I received were remarkable. They welcomed me with open arms, only asking that I remove my shoes before entering. 🥰

The 99 domes represent the 99 names of God, and if you look closely, you can see the names inscribed in Arabic on the inside of each dome.

This is the biggest gong (a traditional musical instrument) in Indonesia, measuring 7 meters in diameter, and weighing 1.3 tonnes. It was built by 100 school students and took 28 days to complete!

🚤🌊 The Phinisi boat is a traditional wooden vessel crafted by the Buginese and Makassarese shipbuilders, embodying centuries-old craftsmanship and seafaring traditions.

One of the activities we had in the International

One of the activities we had in the International Cultural Program was planting mangroves. 🌱🌊

Mangroves play a crucial role in stabilizing shorelines, reducing erosion, and providing habitat for diverse marine life. They also act as natural barriers against storm surges and help combat climate change by absorbing significant amounts of CO2.

Unfortunately, the saplings have a low survival rate. Only about 10% of these will actually survive. Well, I hope these ones will make it!
